I initially apprenticed under a respected PhD in epidemiology from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. He started his own medical publishing company (today known as Medical Economics Press). Under his tutelage I learned the value of words in the persuasive art AND science of direct mail marketing.
After five years, I started my own consultancy writing direct marketing promotions and writing/editing eleven monthly newsletters in industries such as industrial food service, medical and construction law.
- My key ability to “translate” highly technical information (legal, medical, technology, financial, scientific, electronic, etc.) into “common/palatable English” continues to develop and is highly regarded by my clients.
I enjoy using my lifetime experience in database analysis, psychology, operational management and education to identify and understand the “heart of your reader”. I’ve consulted with over 50 organisations in a dozen countries and have written untold numbers of magazine articles, white papers and blog content for others (including writing eight blogs for my own purposes).
I have authored a best-selling business book, published by McGraw Hill (translated into Chinese and Spanish) that sold out of four printings and is still published in Chinese. I’ve also written and facilitated about 65 different workshops with take-home workbooks for participants and trainers. Recently, several “soft skill” workshops were transformed into on-line training format.
In the past few years, two specialties keep me busy:
- Technical writing (especially IT service management, educational and promotional)
- Business Process Workflow investigation, analysis and improvement (especially in the IT and financial services industries)
