What to Expect from Us
Obviously, each type of service takes a different amount and type of effort. Typically writing projects start with you giving us a topic or something to begin with. A professional writer with expertise in your area is then assigned.
We then work as a team to write a document of specified length and send it back to you for comments. With your comments and feedback, the article is edited and resubmitted as final. (Note: It may take an extra cycle with new clients.)
1. You set parameters for word count when/ if applicable
2. We establish a set deadline(s) for publishing a weekly, monthly, quarterly article, if applicable.
3. Each cycle you give us a topic (or we work out a set schedule so we can also write ahead or write continuing articles based on our experience)
4. You review the article(s) and give feedback
5. We edit and submit the finished article to you
Bottom Line
Pricing writing dependent on many parameters. We would be happy to discuss this with you. Some components:
• Clarity of your goals
• How defined your brief is
• Length and depth of your project
• Frequency of material required
• Amount and/ or research and/ or planning required (i.e. if we have to plan the article topics rather than you having ideas, etc.)
• Column (number of finished words) of writing required.
When editing documents or doing research, this is typically priced on an hourly or “words deleted” basis (so if you have a 1,000 word document that must be 400 words for a magazine, it would be either charged hourly or by the number of words cut.)
Obviously, the more information and clarity we establish, the easier it is to manage. Additionally, we can offer a set-fee for clients who choose a package of articles (i.e. weekly, monthly, etc.) with up to a 20% discount against the estimated monthly fee. Additionally, for every new content writing client refer to us who take up and continue a set-fee agreement with me for at least six months these savings are also applicable.
From You
To get started, here is what we need from you:
• An understanding/ profile of your reader
• Your vision for your writing
• A brief of topics you wish covered
• How you wish the articles researched (journalistic interview, hard/soft copy of topics, stack of clippings, etc.)
• Where and how the articles will be used
• Article length (for example the typical word count for a page in a book is 400 words), most blog articles are typically up to 300 words
• Frequency of publications
• What articles or sites you have as examples of what you want
• Deadlines expected
Are you considering a schedule of set articles per specific week, which I can work ahead on or will the topics be spur of the moment? Will you wish to run some/ all articles as a continuing serious (where one article builds on the previous one) or if each article stands alone and points to an overarching vision?
Finally, we need some samples of your writing style, so we don’t write completely opposite to how you “read”. It’s important to develop an harmonious style to yours so we endeavour to establish a “mind-meld” with you.
Again, all this is written to open the discussion and find a way to begin working with you.
